Skype with Dr Goodall 14/12/20
This week, Year 9 students embarked upon a learning journey with renowned zoologist, Dr Jane Goodall. Thanks to Microsoft’s ‘Skype in the Classroom’ initiative, the students had the unique opportunity to meet the primatologist and learn more about her exciting lifelong studies on primates - discovering key characteristics previously thought to be exclusively human, like the strong parent-child bond, community relationships, and social hierarchies.
Using Microsoft PowerPoint, students explored the ‘Roots and Shoots’ program that Dr Goodall spearheaded, competing with each other in a presentation contest, where they showcased their communication skills, explaining the importance of how every individual’s actions can have a big impact upon the planet. They even took a selfie with Dr Goodall!
