International Literacy Day 21/09/20

In order to celebrate International Literacy day at De Salis, students engaged in a series of Language and Literary activities in conjunction with our ‘Drop Everything and Read’ philosophy. This included: anagram competitions, word worms, closed exercises and other literacy activities that were based around the De Salis business orientated curriculum.

During English, students explored literary linguistics. They read from curricular texts, focusing on interesting literacy features such as accent, dialect, imagery and the punctuation used in direct speech. This provided them with a wider understanding of the ways in which a text’s features are used to communicate meaning.
