Holocaust Trip 4/03/19
Holocaust education has a rightful place in the national curriculum and in order to learn more about the Holocaust, Year 10 De Salis students took part in a moving workshop at the Northwood Synagogue on Tuesday 5th February. Students were appalled by the gradual removal of dignity and the shocking conditions experienced by the Jews who lived in the infamous ghettos during World War II. Students then listened attentively to the story of David Herman, who was a prisoner in Auschwitz, as told by his daughter, Julia Burton. It was a humbling experience which our students greatly appreciated. Young people must never be allowed to forget the suffering experienced by the Jews if we are to secure lasting peace for future generations.
