As principal sponsor, The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust is proud to introduce De Salis Studio College which opened for its first cohort of students in September 2014. In February 2017 the College underwent its first Ofsted inspection and was rated 'Outstanding'.
This unique specialist provider caters exclusively for 14 to 19 year olds who have a genuine interest in the world of business and commerce. Building on the studio school concept, the Academy Trust is well placed to ensure that De Salis continues to develop this pioneering approach; one which combines high quality learning with innovative project based activities which go beyond the classroom into the wider business community. Students who attend De Salis not only continue to gain qualifications in traditional core subjects, such as English, Mathematics and Science, but also a broad range of other subjects which provide them with valuable skills in business and commerce, as they follow their chosen pathway. The specialist courses are delivered through a learning environment which organisationally and visually reflects the world of business. Considerable investment has been made in refurbishing the buildings to ensure that the young people involved can develop the skills, experiences and qualifications necessary to succeed in all areas and at all levels of business.
Although studio schools are a relatively new concept, the focus is one which the business world has been demanding for some time. Businesses want young people to be work ready and therefore De Salis complements the courses offered across the Trust, being at the very forefront of delivering this innovation locally.
